Bring your Photoshop edits to life using Nano Banana and Flux Kontext! 🍌 🍌

🎉 Now with Reference image support on Windows! 🎉

This script makes photo editing and compositing in Photoshop feel even more intuitive. Use the tools you already know such as selections, brushes and colors, and then let Nano Banana (Gemini 2.5 Flash) or Flux Kontext bring your ideas to life. With simple, user friendly prompts you can create edits that look natural and are super fun to explore.

  • Nano Banana (Gemini 2.5 Flash): fast generation with extras like Use Foreground Color and Reference Image (now available on both Windows and macOS 🎉).
  • Flux Kontext (Pro & Max): context-aware edits, typography, lighting.

Your selection is sent to Replicate’s models and the result is placed back as a new layer, keeping lighting, shadows, and materials consistent. You can find the manual and a video with some examples below. Because the AI models run on Replicate, you'll need to create a free account there and add a minimum of $10 credit to access the AI models. With $10 you can generate about 250 images.

⚠️ Note on Windows: the script works on Windows 10 and 11, but with a few small quirks. You may briefly see command windows pop up, which is completely normal. The Reference Image feature is now available on Windows.

If you experience connection issues: Windows security settings sometimes block the API connection. Quick fixes that usually work: temporarily disable your antivirus, check Windows Firewall settings, or try running Photoshop as administrator. These are common Windows networking quirks that affect many online tools. API errors on macOS are, in 99% of the cases, solved by resetting the Photoshop preferences.

If you still can't get it working after trying these tips, just reach out via the Gumroad email and I'll happily refund your purchase or provide additional troubleshooting help as fast as I can 🤗

4. Run your first AI edit

  1. Make a selection in Photoshop.
  2. Go to File → Scripts → Nano-Banana-Flux-Kontext.
  3. Enter a short, specific prompt.
  4. Choose a model:
    • Nano Banana: with options for Foreground Color and (on macOS) Reference Image. With Reference image, you can insert an image in your selection.
    • Flux Kontext: context-aware edits, typography, and lighting.
  5. Click Generate. The result appears as a new layer on top of your original.

5. Tips

  • Assign a keyboard shortcut (Edit → Keyboard Shortcuts). I use Cmd-Shift-K. In the Keyboard Shortcuts section, navigate to File > Scripts > Nano-Banana-Flux-Kontext, click in the field next to it and type your preferred shortcut.
  • Keep prompts short and specific. Mention material, color, lighting. Prompts in Flux Kontext need to be more specific than Nano Banana.
  • Make selections slightly larger or softer to give the models more context.
  • Try both Flux Kontext Pro and Max: Pro is great for most cases, Max can be stronger on typography. My preferred method is Nano Banana nowadays, except for changing the environmental lighting, and blending objects.
  • Try drawing a sketch, and then let Nano Banana make something out of it. I had very impressive results.
  • Use Upscale if the generated area feels too small or soft.
